Use your talent

Whether you are a student or still at school, Leiden is a university that will give you the space you need to make the most of yourself.

Honours College: Humanities Lab

For bachelor’s students who are willing and able to reach further, Leiden University offers an Honours College. This College allows students to follow an extra programme in parallel with their bachelor’s study programme.

The Honours College programme of the Faculty of Humanities is called Humanities Lab. The Humanities Lab is for students from all faculties of Leiden University who want to do more in addition to their regular study programme.

You can start the Honours College as early as your first year: half-way through the year you can apply for the ‘orientation activity’ for your chosen Honours track. But even after your first year, it’s not too late to apply. The complete Honours College programme lasts up to and including your third year. If you follow the complete programme, you will be awarded an Honours Diploma. There are a number of criteria that apply to the Honours College.

For more information, check out the website of Humanities Lab.

Optional courses

Every bachelor’s programme has a period that you can fill with optional courses (electives). Within your programme you can opt for a more in-depth study, or you can broaden your field with courses outside your subject. You can decide for yourself whether to choose a set of optional courses, an internship, or a study period abroad, and in this way, you will be shaping your own study programme.
