Orientation Week

It doesn’t matter whether you live close to Leiden or The Hague or you come from the other side of the country, whether or not you are going to live in a student room or you intend to become a member of a student association: the introduction weeks offer a varied programme with something for every first-year student. It’s your opportunity to get to know the city, your study programme and student life, and you also get to meet your fellow students. It’s not just the ideal way to start life as a student, it’s a fun and friendly get-together too!

Kick off your student time

The introduction weeks are great for everyone. Mature or less mature, male or female, religious or atheist, party-lover or serious study freak, born-and-bred Dutch or multicultural: everyone gets a lot out of them. They get your academic and social life at Leiden University off to a flying start. It’s not compulsory, but the University strongly recommends new students to take part. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

6 reasons to take part

There are different introduction weeks to help you prepare for student life.

‘I want to meet as many students as possible in the HOP-week. This introduction week is super international – there are at least seven different nationalities in my group. It’s interesting to meet so many people from so many different countries, and it’s great that The Hague is becoming more of a real student city.’
